The centering practice invites a curiosity about what’s happening on the inside and the outside (in the body and in the external space). Does your attention go to potential “problem spots” first or to positive associations first? We also organize the body using Alexander directions and relationships. Movement themes in this practice include: stabilizing one side of the body to have freedom of movement in the other, spiral/diagonal patterns, and head/pelvis counterbalance as well as rhythmic movements to awaken energy. Poses include: reclined twist stretch, figure 4 stretch, stork on the ground and as a standing balance, triangle, reverse triangle, butterfly, wide angle seated pose.
