This class emphasizes the importance of the back line of the body for support and power in action/movement. We build several movement patterns from the ground to upright, evolving from a “sketch” to a fuller movement with strength and balance. Themes and poses include: arm, leg and torso spirals that connect from the back, bending with mechanical advantage, dancer’s side plank and warrior/triangle series, and revolved head to knee pose. We also explore balance: how to come onto the toes and/or onto one leg with attention to the ankles, knees, and hips. Creative sequencing may help you repattern familiar habits into more easeful movements!
